I’ve had a few Mama’s express interest in getting in the picture with their kiddos. And I love the enthusiasm for the idea. But how they ask!?

So, here’s some choices:
– book a lifestyle session
– get a DSLR with built in wifi (this is what I have)

Or a more practical daily option is to use your cellphone. I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S6. And here’s what I do. I open the camera app that came with the phone, find the timer, and click on it. I of course use 10 seconds so I can run back to where I need to be.

I also find that using the camera in selfie mode is easier so that when you run back you can see where you are and situate yourself in the frame. It takes a bit of practice but it’s worth it! But I did figure out that not using it in selfie mode gets a better picture quality so that’s up to you.

There are a lot of apps you can buy for an Android or iPhone but I really don’t want another app on my phone so this works. Remember, it’s all about getting into the picture. Not if your hair is perfect, if your shirt is crumb free and if everyone is smiling. Just get in! That’s all your kids care about.

I try practice what I preach so here are some images of me and the kiddos using the timer on my camera. The picture on the left I propped the phone on the stairs and the one on the right was on the dining table leaning against my water bottle. They aren’t perfect but they are meaningful keepers!
