A few days ago I reminded you to get in those 1st day pictures. So, I took my own advice and jumped in.

We started the anxious morning with waffles and while eating them he had a bit of a meltdown about the bus but we kept on going. The bus asks you to be at your stop thirty minutes prior to pick up time. On this rainy 1st day I was thankful our bus picks us up right at our door.

So I set up my camera and we sang songs, ran in and out of the rain, and chatted about what to expect on the first day.

He was really excited about the Mickey Mouse backpack he picked out and I was hoping his favorite shiny blue shorts and Zoom shirt would make the day go smoother. As I’ve said before all these details tell a story so I didn’t force him into something he wouldn’t want to wear. This is him. Four years old and wanting to be comfortable!

As I jumped into these pictures I worried about him on the bus, not knowing anyone, hoping he would deal with opening everything at lunch time and every other small detail. But I put a smile on my face and kept on singing some songs!

I didn’t get any of him going onto the school bus because he wasn’t happy! His scream cries hit me right in the gut but I know he will enjoy the school year. It may take some time to get used to the idea of taking the bus but he will get there.
