Dominic and Theresa grew up together at Transfiguration Church but they didn’t start getting close until almost 8 years ago. Recently, Dominic contacted me to photograph his surprise proposal and he chose Brooklyn Bridge Park for the proposal. He enlisted the help of his sister and Theresa’s sister (and adorable kids).  Once the sister’s picked out the spot, set up the balloons, and the collage they had some time to enjoy the view before hiding.

The couple has always loved going to shorelines with a view. Some of their favorites are Shore Road in Brooklyn, Astoria Park in Queens, Meadow Lake in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Brooklyn Bridge Park. So taking a stroll by the water was a perfect idea on this beautiful Sunday.

They call it “going by the water” and it’s where big things happen for them. For the proposal he included snapshots of them in the past leading to the present. He also wanted to include something that Theresa could keep forever in addition to pictures of the proposal. He made a collage of old photos, post-it’s with his memories of those moments, and a scrapbook to put the photos and post-its to keep forever.

Then, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him!

She of course said YES!!! And was so surprised to see that her loved ones were there to celebrate.

And everyone got in on the celebrations!

And thanks to technology they were able to celebrate with family abroad.
